Lee Nak-yeon Defeats Hwang Kyo-ahn, Secures Jongno Election Win (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The election of Lee Nak-yeon, the co-chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea's standing joint election committee, who ran for the 21st general election in Jongno, Seoul, is being confirmed.

According to the National Election Commission as of 9:25 PM on the 15th, Chairman Lee recorded a vote share of 64.5% (24,537 votes), leading Hwang Kyo-ahn, the leader of the United Future Party, who recorded 34.2% (13,005 votes). The counting rate is 40.3%.

In the earlier exit polls by three major broadcasters, Chairman Lee was also ahead with 53.0% compared to candidate Hwang's 44.8%.
