원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon said on the 15th about the exit poll results of the 21st general election, "I think the Democratic Party of Korea would have won even without COVID-19, but I thought it would not have been a landslide victory."
Former Professor Jin appeared on JTBC's '2020 Our Choice - Asking, Casting Votes' election broadcast that afternoon and said, "It seems that COVID-19 had a greater impact than the impeachment crisis."
He continued, "(The government's response to COVID-19) learned from the failure during MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), there was a venture company that could produce diagnostic kits. Also, the devoted efforts of medical staff and the public's adherence to social distancing were demonstrated as a system."
Regarding President Moon Jae-in, he said, "Of course, there are parts to evaluate the president. The president commands the whole. However, there were some loose remarks during social distancing and some areas like the mask shortage that left room for improvement. This is how it should be evaluated."
Meanwhile, according to JTBC's forecast survey, the Democratic Party of Korea and the Together Citizens' Party are expected to secure 143 to 175 seats, while the United Future Party and the Future Korea Party are expected to secure 101 to 134 seats.
