[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The National Election Commission announced on the 15th at 2 PM that the voter turnout for the 21st general election is 53.0%. This turnout is the highest recorded for this time slot since the hourly turnout aggregation began, and it is 10.7 percentage points higher than the turnout at the same time during the 20th general election.

원본보기 아이콘Voting, which started simultaneously at 3,508 polling stations nationwide from 6 AM, recorded that 23,334,953 out of 43,994,247 registered voters cast their ballots.
By region, all areas except Incheon showed voter turnout exceeding 50%. Among them, the region with the highest turnout was Jeonnam at 58.2%. This was followed by Jeonbuk (57.5%), Sejong (56.4%), Gangwon (55.8%), Gyeongnam (55.3%), Gyeongbuk (55.1%), Gwangju (54.8%), Ulsan (54.1%), and Seoul (53.8%).
Voting hours are until 6 PM. Voters can cast their ballots at any polling station nationwide without separate registration. When going to vote, voters must bring a photo ID issued by a government or public institution, such as their resident registration card, passport, or driver's license.
