The rent reduction applies to numerous tenant businesses inside the Mokpo Marine Cable Car, including cafes, restaurants, bakeries, specialty product shops, convenience stores, and photo services.
Jung In-chae, CEO of Mokpo Marine Cable Car, said, “As a representative tourist facility of Mokpo with social and cultural significance, we feel a responsibility to revitalize the local economy. Despite the decrease in passengers and sales downturn caused by COVID-19, we decided to reduce rent to provide practical support to the tenant small business owners who are suffering.”
Since the end of January, Mokpo Marine Cable Car has been thoroughly implementing disinfection measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
At the main entrance of the boarding station, the latest gate-type spray disinfection devices and thermal cameras have been installed. At the Bukhang and Gohado boarding stations, cabins are disinfected immediately after passengers disembark. Additionally, wearing masks is mandatory when boarding the cable car to ensure all visitors can ride safely.
Hand sanitizers and handwashing agents are placed throughout the area, employees are required to wear masks, and they are instructed to familiarize themselves with preventive guidelines. Posters related to behavioral measures have also been posted as part of promotional activities to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
A representative of Mokpo Marine Cable Car stated, “We will do our best to strengthen our internal operations so that the regional economic downturn caused by COVID-19 does not lead to a decrease in tourists, ensuring a safe and pleasant trip to Mokpo.”
