[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will hold a '6th Anniversary Memorial Event for the Sewol Ferry Disaster' on the 16th.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education announced on the 15th that at 10 a.m. on the day, Lee Jae-jung, the Superintendent of Education, along with about 30 senior staff members from the Suwon Southern Government Complex, will hold a moment of silent prayer in front of the Sewol Ferry memorial sculpture set up in the complex garden, pledging to create a new Gyeonggi education that goes beyond sorrow to build hope for the future.
From 10 a.m. on the day, a one-minute memorial siren will sound at the Suwon Southern Government Complex and the Uijeongbu Northern Government Complex, and all employees will participate in the memorial by observing a moment of silence at their respective work locations.
Institutions under the Gyeonggi Office of Education will also autonomously conduct memorial events according to their circumstances, such as wearing yellow ribbons, leaving memorial messages, and safety education, in observance of the 'April Yellow Ribbon Month.'
