[21st General Election] Voting Begins at 6 AM at 3,186 Polling Stations in Gyeonggi-do

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Voting to elect the 21st National Assembly members in 59 electoral districts within Gyeonggi Province began simultaneously from 6 a.m. on the 15th.

Gyeonggi Province, which has the largest number of constituencies nationwide, is conducting voting at a total of 3,186 polling stations until 6 p.m. on the same day.

The number of eligible voters in the province is 11,067,819 out of the national total of 43,994,247, accounting for 25% of the entire electorate.

Earlier, the early voting rate conducted on the 10th and 11th was 23.9%, ranking 16th among the 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide.

Looking at the early voting rates by region: ▲ Gwacheon-si (33.95%) ▲ Yangpyeong-gun (30.43%) ▲ Anyang-si Dongan-gu (29.3%) ▲ Seongnam-si Bundang-gu (28.19%) ▲ Anyang-si Manan-gu (28.07%) in order.

On the other hand, ▲ Bucheon-si (19.71%) ▲ Osan-si (19.87%) ▲ Namyangju-si (20.82%) ▲ Siheung-si (20.89%) ▲ Pyeongtaek-si (20.9%) had relatively low voting rates.

Meanwhile, due to the spread of COVID-19, there have been many changes to the election procedures. Voters must check their temperature and sanitize their hands before voting, then wear vinyl gloves provided at the polling station to cast their vote.

While waiting, a distance of 1 meter must be maintained, and voters must bring their ID cards and wear masks when entering the polling station.
