[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] On the 4th, President Moon Jae-in instructed to "make maximum use of facilities owned by Daegu City and the private sector" regarding the shortage of hospital beds in Daegu City, where confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have surged.

Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, conveyed this in a written briefing in the afternoon, saying, "President Moon said that all possible facilities should be mobilized as residential treatment centers for mild patients, and that the government and local governments must join forces to achieve this."

The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Daegu City is about 4,300, with hundreds of new cases occurring daily, causing a severe shortage of hospital beds.
