'LG OLED TV Gaming Challenge' Grand Championship

LG Electronics held the LG OLED TV Gaming Challenge in the Lagos area of Nigeria on the 29th of last month. Visitors at the event enjoyed gaming in the LG OLED TV experience zone.

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 2nd that it held the 'LG OLED TV Gaming Challenge' on the 29th of last month (local time) in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

At the event held at the local 'Eco Hotels & Suites,' last season's star winners gathered to compete in the championship. LG Electronics awarded the final winner with a 65-inch LG OLED TV and a prize of 1 million Naira (approximately 3.3 million KRW).

The company has been hosting gaming tournaments using LG OLED TVs in major Nigerian cities since 2018. Over 1,000 participants have joined so far, and the event has progressed through six seasons. It is also known as the e-sports tournament in Nigeria with the largest prize money for the winner.

LG Electronics set up a separate experience zone at the venue, allowing visitors to directly experience the gaming performance of the LG OLED TV. On the same day, the company also invited local media to introduce the new 2020 LG OLED TV models.

The LG OLED TV is equipped with industry-leading gaming features. Its screen response time is over 1,000 times faster than LCDs, enabling rapid and accurate changes in color and contrast. With various HDR functions, users can enjoy games with more vivid visuals.

Graphic compatibility features such as NVIDIA's 'G-Sync Compatible' and AMD's 'Radeon FreeSync' synchronize the refresh rates of the graphics card in the external device running the game and the TV screen. This minimizes screen tearing that occurs when refresh rates differ. The company emphasized that LG OLED TV is the only TV supporting both graphic compatibility features.

Additionally, the LG OLED TV does not require a backlight, as each pixel emits its own light and can be freely controlled to express delicate image quality. LG Electronics explained that many experts regard it as the optimal TV for enjoying various content such as movies, games, and sports due to its contrast ratio, black expression, and nearly perfect viewing angles.
