[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] A preliminary candidate for the general election, who serves as the full-time special advisor to Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the United Future Party, is running a campaign describing the Moon Jae-in administration as a 'super spreader.'

Kim Woo-seok, a preliminary candidate for Mapo-gap, Seoul, from the United Future Party, announced on the 21st that he showcased a campaign at Gongdeok Five-way Intersection wearing a mini banner on his back with the phrase, "The super spreader is the Moon Jae-in administration. This general election is about quarantine."

Through a Facebook live broadcast, Candidate Kim said, "I came here with a solemn heart. Over the past three years, due to the Moon Jae-in administration's flawed policies, the people have been suffering from issues like the 'real estate tax bomb' and the 'collapse of self-employed businesses,' causing great distress to the public," adding, "Moreover, the government's incompetent measures against COVID-19 are further increasing public anxiety."

He continued, "Under these circumstances, I believe election campaigning is meaningless. I came here to clearly convey that 'the general election is a definite quarantine measure.'"

Candidate Kim introduced himself as a graduate of Seoul National University’s Department of Oriental History, having served as an aide to Lee Hoi-chang, the presidential candidate of the Grand National Party, the predecessor of the United Future Party, as well as a special advisor to the party leader, chairman of the Central Party’s Digital Party Committee, and advisory member of the Presidential Committee for National Unity.

Currently, he is the deputy director of the Future Strategy Development Institute, a visiting researcher at Korea University’s Information Security Research Institute, and a visiting professor at Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Public Administration. He is also the only full-time special advisor to Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the United Future Party. He reportedly also served as a member of the general election planning committee, devising the party’s overall election strategy.
