[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Convenience store GS25 announced on the 10th that it will expand the supply of fresh food products such as lunch boxes and gimbap in the Jeju area.

GS Retail's partner JB Fresh newly opened a 270-pyeong (approximately 892 square meters) fresh food factory in Jocheon-eup, Jeju City on the 8th. As a result, the factory size increased by about 1.7 times compared to before, and the capacity (production capability) increased more than threefold.

JB Fresh prepared for a year with GS Retail's fresh food MD and quality hygiene experts to respond to the increased demand for fresh food in Jeju and to improve quality. GS Retail provided know-how such as automated production facilities and quality and hygiene management systems.

The newly opened factory introduced the latest automated production equipment necessary for fresh food production, including an automatic rice cooker, automatic rice ball forming machine, and vacuum cooler (a device that rapidly cools rice and other foods under vacuum). It can produce up to 50,000 meals per day.

They strengthened quality control personnel and operated a separate laboratory for quality improvement to ensure thorough quality management. From the factory design stage, hygiene management processes such as unidirectional flow lines to prevent cross-contamination, air showers, and double hygiene cap wearing were established.

A GS Retail official said, "Through the establishment of the Jeju fresh food factory, we can provide high-quality products to customers," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide Jeju residents with safe and delicious products through continuous quality control and delivering recipes that meet the latest trends."
