With the occurrence of the fourth confirmed domestic case of the novel coronavirus, the domestic infectious disease alert level has been raised to the "caution" stage. Accordingly, Airport Railroad (President Kim Han-young) announced on the 28th that it is making every effort to prevent the spread of the disease by expanding disinfection of trains.

Infection with the novel coronavirus involves an incubation period of 2 to 14 days, followed by respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, pneumonia, and difficulty breathing.

At Airport Railroad, disinfection and sterilization are conducted more than 112 times monthly on 28 train sets, focusing on passenger seats, walls, and floors. Areas frequently touched by customers, such as handrails and around doors, are cleaned with disinfectants.

Additionally, alcohol disinfection and cleaning are performed at least twice daily on facilities operated by hand at all 14 stations from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station, including elevator buttons, escalator handrails, and automatic ticket machines. Disposable transportation cards (tickets) are also individually disinfected before use.

In particular, the direct trains, heavily used by foreigners and airport passengers, undergo additional interior cleaning and restroom disinfection while preparing for the next operation upon arrival at the terminal station.

Furthermore, station staff who interact with customers are provided with masks and hand sanitizers, and health managers conduct regular training tours to help prevent the spread of the infectious disease.
