[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Former People's Party leader Ahn Cheol-soo met with Bareunmirae Party leader Sohn Hak-kyu. It was eight days after Ahn returned to Korea on the 19th.

On this day, former leader Ahn proposed to Sohn, "Let's have a conversation about ways to revive the Bareunmirae Party," and Sohn responded, "I have high expectations," adding, "I hope you will take the lead."

On the afternoon of the 27th, former leader Ahn met Sohn at the National Assembly and said, "I had a pre-scheduled appointment before returning to the country, and after finishing it, I came today to greet the party." He continued, "I will have an in-depth discussion with Leader Sohn Hak-kyu about how to revive our party, which is facing difficulties."

Sohn handed a bouquet to former leader Ahn and said, "I welcome and thank you for visiting the Bareunmirae Party."

Sohn said, "I listened carefully to what former leader Ahn said upon entering Incheon Airport and in his media interviews," adding, "What Ahn emphasized aligns with what Bareunmirae Party leader Sohn Hak-kyu has aimed for."

He added, "Also, I was both worried and relieved when you clearly stated that you would not join the conservative unification."

Sohn also emphasized, "I have very high expectations for former leader Ahn."

He continued, "Ahn is the person who caused the 'Ahn Cheol-soo phenomenon.' Although expectations have somewhat diminished due to the presidential and Seoul mayoral elections, there is still great hope for a new politician."

He added, "The 21st National Assembly should move beyond being a 'plant assembly' or 'animal assembly' and contribute to the livelihood economy and peace, creating truly working politics," and said, "I hope Ahn Cheol-soo will take the lead."

Meanwhile, after meeting Sohn on this day, former leader Ahn is scheduled to have a luncheon meeting on the 28th with Bareunmirae Party members, including proportional representatives from the Ahn Cheol-soo faction and the Honam faction. It is expected that substantive discussions, including party leadership and preparations for the upcoming general election, will take place during the meeting with Sohn.
