[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for the National Assembly election in Buk-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced, "We will promptly establish the Gwangju Advanced 3 District Artificial Intelligence Convergence Industry Cluster to build Gwangju into a world-class AI core city."

The candidate stated, "Earlier this year, the National Assembly passed the Data 3 Act, which eased regulations that had been hindering the development of the AI industry, the core of the 4th Industrial Revolution. The Blue House has taken the lead in fostering AI policies and established the Digital Innovation Secretary to pursue innovation as a digital government, laying the foundation for AI industry development. Now is the optimal opportunity for Gwangju to leap forward as an AI-centered city."

He continued, "We must attract leading companies in the AI industrial ecosystem such as Samsung, LG, Hyundai, and Naver to Gwangju and focus investment on infrastructure for the initial market, including AI startups and small and medium enterprises, to nurture upstream and downstream companies. To this end, we will secure an 'AI Startup Incubation Center' and establish an 'AI Graduate School' within the region that utilizes artificial intelligence," he said.

He also emphasized, "To survive in global competition, it is necessary to create a differentiated AI convergence industrial complex unique to Gwangju. By strengthening technology development that combines AI with local key industries such as automobiles, energy, healthcare, and optics, Gwangju can transform into a differentiated AI industrial convergence city."
