Hyundai Department Store Opens 'Food Alley' on 11th Floor of Sinchon Branch U-Plex

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Hyundai Department Store Sinchon Branch U-Plex is being reborn as a ‘Gourmet Space’ showcasing a variety of foods from around the world.


Hyundai Department Store announced on the 22nd that it has completed the renovation of the 11th-floor food court at Sinchon Branch U-Plex, which began last October, and will reopen it. The concept of the newly opened food court is ‘Food Alley,’ characterized by bringing together cuisines from various countries. The area is 770㎡ (233 pyeong).


Hyundai Department Store will introduce restaurants popular among people in their 20s and 30s in the ‘Food Alley.’ Representative examples include ‘Podam,’ a modern Chinese dim sum restaurant located in Seochon, Seoul; ‘Langman,’ a Vietnamese restaurant in Itaewon known for its signature dish ‘Banh Xeo’; ‘Juben Cuba,’ a Cuban-style Western restaurant themed after Havana’s Malecon Beach; and ‘Bowlroom,’ a Hawaiian bowl food ‘Poke’ specialty store located in Apgujeong Rodeo.


Additionally, the live cafe ‘Unplugged’ in Hongdae and the handmade burger specialty store ‘The Burger Express’ in Itaewon will also open. Furthermore, Hyundai Department Store Sinchon Branch is holding an event to commemorate the reopening of the food court until the 23rd, where KakaoTalk Plus Friend members of Sinchon Branch who visit ‘Food Alley’ will receive free food items such as ‘Hot Bar.’


A Hyundai Department Store official explained, "Young customers in their 20s and 30s are attracted not only to the taste of food but also to the unique stories behind the brands," adding, "We focused on attracting famous restaurants featuring unique menus from around the world that have already been verified in university areas, Hongdae, and Seochon."
