[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will open the twelfth co-parenting room, ‘Aishinna Co-parenting Room,’ on the second floor of Daeseong Senior Center in Myeonmok 4-dong on the 7th and begin full-scale operation.

‘Aishinna Co-parenting Room’ has an area of 87.48㎡ and consists of a play experience room, book play room, and nursing room. It is located in the residential area of Myeonmok-dong, where children’s play facilities have been relatively lacking, allowing more children and parents to conveniently use the co-parenting room.

In particular, ‘Aishinna Co-parenting Room’ was reborn as a senior center where all generations can come together, as the elderly willingly provided the second-floor space of the senior center to secure play space for children. The Aishinna Co-parenting Room, prepared through the great decision of the elderly, is expected to be a cornerstone for creating a happy village where children, parents, and seniors live together.

Additionally, reflecting the opinions of parents of infants and toddlers, a trampoline was installed to improve the physical play area, which was lacking in existing co-parenting rooms, enabling children to actively engage in physical play indoors.

The Aishinna Co-parenting Room is free to use for any household raising infants and toddlers residing in Seoul. It operates from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Since 2015, the district has continuously installed and operated co-parenting rooms to create play spaces where children can play in the neighborhood and childcare spaces that the community can nurture together.

The co-parenting rooms have become a representative childcare community space in Jungnang-gu, gaining great popularity among parents of infants and toddlers, with about 45,000 visitors annually.

The district plans to install a total of 18 co-parenting rooms by 2022 to make Jungnang a better place to raise children.

Jungnang-gu already operates more co-parenting rooms than any other local government in the country, and it is expected that with the opening of the twelfth co-parenting room, it will take the lead in realizing community-based childcare.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, emphasized, “The newly opened Aishinna Co-parenting Room is a meaningful space to create a community based on the understanding of the elderly,” and added, “We will spare no effort to support so that the co-parenting room can become a new community that embraces residents of multiple generations.”
