"Body Caught on Fishing Hook" ... Corpse Found Beneath Old Geoje Bridge

The maritime police have launched an investigation after receiving a report that an angler discovered a dead body beneath the old Geoje Bridge, which connects Geoje and Tongyeong in Gyeongnam.

According to the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station, at around 12:07 a.m. on November 7, a citizen fishing on the coast beneath the old Geoje Bridge in Sadeung-myeon, Geoje City, reported that "a body was caught on a fishing hook and pulled up."

The responding maritime police identified the deceased as a man in his 40s residing in Gyeonggi Province.

The Tongyeong Maritime Police are investigating to determine whether there are any indications of a crime, as well as the exact circumstances of the man's death, including the time of death and whether he had a history of being reported missing.
