Iranian Negotiator: "US Must Decide How to Earn Iran's Trust"
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) and head of the Iranian delegation in the US-Iran ceasefire talks, stated on April 12 (local time) regarding the breakdown of the negotiations, "The United States has understood our logic and principles, and now it is time for them to decide whether they can earn our trust."
Speaker Ghalibaf announced on his social media account later that day, "The Iranian delegation presented a forward-thinking proposal called 'Minab 168,' but ultimately, the other party (the United States) failed to earn our trust during these negotiations."
Previously, Speaker Ghalibaf had held 21 hours of ceasefire negotiations with US Vice President JD Vance in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. He explained, "We have the necessary goodwill and determination, but due to experiences from the previous two wars, we are in a situation where there is no trust in the other party."
