In the video released by Wang Tianyu, he is seen at a birthday celebration holding a cake with lit candles and taking a sip from a small bottle containing liquid. This liquid was 96% alcohol. Instead of blowing out the candles, he sprayed the liquid toward the cake to create a larger flame.
The moment he blew the liquid, the flames suddenly erupted and quickly spread to his face.
The video shows Wang Tianyu dropping the cake in surprise as his face is engulfed in blue flames. Flames hotter than 1,500 degrees Celsius appear blue in color.
He was later transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Wang Tianyu stated that he is "recovering," and although his eyelashes were singed in the accident, his neck was not injured.
"Fire-Blowing Challenge is Not Safe... Be Careful"
Wang Tianyu explained that he had seen similar videos online multiple times and thought the challenge was safe, which led him to try it himself. He said, "When I searched for birthday fire-blowing videos, all I found were stylish and atmospheric clips," adding, "There were no warnings or reports of injuries." He continued, "I attempted it because I thought it was a safe trend."
He cautioned others not to imitate the challenge, emphasizing its dangers. Wang Tianyu criticized, "Videos of this challenge hide its safety risks, which is highly irresponsible."
