On March 11, President Lee Jaemyung held a summit meeting with Ghanaian President John Mahama and agreed to sign memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to strengthen cooperation in areas such as digital technology, climate change, and maritime security.

View original imageThe two countries agreed to enhance future-oriented cooperation through the "MOU on Technology, Digital, and Innovation Development Cooperation," which includes initiatives such as artificial intelligence (AI) education for young talent. In addition, through the "Climate Change Cooperation Agreement," both sides committed to jointly contribute to achieving greenhouse gas reduction targets (NDC). The two countries also signed an "MOU on Maritime Security Cooperation" to promote safety in the Gulf of Guinea off Ghana and to help prevent accidents involving Korean nationals and vessels.

Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Blue House, said, "President Lee expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Ghanaian Navy in actively protecting Korean nationals in the Gulf of Guinea, and expressed hope that, through the MOUs signed on the occasion of this summit, cooperation between the maritime security authorities of both countries would develop in an even more systematic manner."
