When Asked About 'Blind Date Turn-Offs'... Divorced Men Say "Ttokdae Woman," What About Divorced Women?
Survey of Divorced Men and Women Seeking Remarriage
Types to Avoid: 'Ttokdae Woman' and 'Petite Man'
Canceling Plans and Excessive Questions Are Also Turn-Offs
Among divorced men and women considering remarriage, the first impression of a blind date partner has been found to play a significant role in forming relationships. In particular, external factors such as body type and overall atmosphere have been shown to have a considerable impact on initial attraction. Men cited women with a large and sturdy physique, often referred to as 'ttokdae woman', as the least attractive first impression, while women pointed to men with a 'petite body type'—so-called 'petite man'—as the least appealing.
On March 9, OnlyYou, a remarriage information company, and Bienarae, a matchmaking agency, conducted a survey of 608 divorced men and women (304 men and 304 women each) across the country who are seeking remarriage, asking, "What kind of first impression on a blind date makes you not see the other person as a potential partner?"
Men are put off by 'ttokdae woman,' women by 'petite man'
The survey found that 35.2% of male respondents chose a "large and sturdy body type" in women as the least attractive first impression. This was followed by "a thin or underdeveloped body (26.6%)," "petiteness (18.1%)," and "looking old for their age (13.2%)."
On the other hand, 34.2% of female respondents cited "a petite body type" in men as the most unattractive feature. This was followed by "appearing lethargic (25.0%)," "looking old for their age (20.7%)," and "a thin or underdeveloped body (14.2%)."
"Losing interest even before meeting"... Canceling plans and excessive questions are a turn-off
The survey also looked at whether a partner’s behavior before a blind date affects attraction. In response to the question, "What behavior by your blind date partner would make you lose interest even before meeting?" both men and women most frequently chose "canceling plans (men 30.3%, women 29.3%)" and "asking excessive questions in advance (men 28.3%, women 32.9%)."
Other turn-offs included "setting the meeting location solely based on their own preferences (men 24.3%, women 23.0%)" and "poor communication (men 17.1%, women 14.8%)."

A company official commented, "People who have experienced a failed marriage naturally tend to be cautious about remarriage partners. To leave a good impression, it's important to be considerate of your own image and the other person, as well as pay close attention to attire and presentation before a blind date."
