According to Singaporean daily The Straits Times on March 5, Tan posted a special photo on his social networking service (SNS) account on March 3, in celebration of his 60th birthday. In the photo, he is seen holding a gold balloon with the number '60' and smiling brightly. Born in March 1966, Tan has turned 60 this year, but his appearance, which seems no older than his mid-30s, has surprised many people.
In his birthday message, Tan stated, "On the occasion of my 60th birthday today, I am once again reminded that the only true wealth is time." He added, "The sun that rises every morning is not a given right but a legacy we have inherited. I am deeply grateful to still be standing on this Earth."
He went on to say, "Now, the wiser path I must take is simple," and added, "It is to return to nature and sunlight every day, living in harmony with what is eternally unchanging. I pray for peace on Earth."

He also shared that his diet is very consistent. He said, "For breakfast, I usually eat six hard-boiled eggs with fruit and avocado. I never drink alcohol or smoke.
