Ansan Mayor Min Geun Lee Requests Cooperation from Governor Dongyeon Kim on Shinansanseon Line Extension and Other Issues

Adjustment of Green Area Ratio in Banwol Industrial Complex,
Proposal for Creation of Public Cargo Parking Lot Also Raised

Ansan City announced on December 12 that Mayor Min Geun Lee met with Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim on December 11 and requested the province’s cooperation on local issues, including the extension of the Shinansanseon Line.

On this day, Mayor Lee explained Ansan’s key challenges to Governor Kim, who visited Ansan as part of a “field tour on the livelihood economy.” He requested Gyeonggi Province’s active cooperation on strengthening the competitiveness of the Banwol National Industrial Complex, the extension of the Shinansanseon Line, and the creation of a public cargo parking lot in Seonbu-dong.

Mayor Lee presented issues such as adjusting the green area ratio in the Banwol National Industrial Complex, including the extension of the Shinansanseon Line in the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan, and establishing the public cargo parking lot in Seonbu-dong. He explained the necessity and expected effects of these projects.

Mayor Lee stated, “The Banwol National Industrial Complex is the largest cluster of root industries in the country,” and emphasized, “Reasonable regulatory adjustments are essential to strengthen industrial competitiveness.”

He particularly stressed that the extension of the Shinansanseon Line must be included in the National Railroad Network Construction Plan to strengthen connections with future industrial belts such as Ansan Science Valley (ASV) and the advanced industrial complex.

He also stated that the creation of a public cargo parking lot in Seonbu-dong is urgent to resolve the problem of illegal truck parking and to improve the residential environment.

Mayor Lee said, “We will work closely with Gyeonggi Province to bring about real change and secure Ansan’s future competitiveness, as well as improve the quality of life for our citizens.”
