Hallym University Achieves Remarkable Research Results at the "Joint Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Speech-Language Therapy and the Korean Society of Speech-Language and Hearing Clinical Studies"
Receives the Most Prestigious Research Scholarship in Speech-Language Pathology, the "Seunghwan Lee Scholarship," and the "Outstanding Paper Award"
Graduate students from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Hallym University’s Graduate School and Graduate School of Health Sciences achieved outstanding research results at the "9th Joint Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Speech-Language Therapy and the Korean Society of Speech-Language and Hearing Clinical Studies," held at BEXCO in Busan on November 8. Their achievements included receiving the "Seunghwan Lee Scholarship" and the "Outstanding Paper Award."
The "Seunghwan Lee Scholarship" is the most prestigious research scholarship in the field of speech-language pathology in Korea, awarded annually to a select group of outstanding master’s and doctoral students to support their research activities.
At this conference, Hallym University presented a total of 21 research findings across all areas of communication disorders. So-bin Lee, a master's student in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the Graduate School (supervised by Professor Ji-hye Yoon), conducted research on the topic "Exploring Korean-Specific Extended Controlled Word Association Tasks for Early Differentiation of Cognitive Decline and Verification of Prefrontal Cortex Activation." After a rigorous blind review, she was recognized for her potential as a student researcher and received the "Seunghwan Lee Scholarship."
Additionally, she presented preliminary research results in collaboration with Professor Deok-ryeol Na’s neurology research team at Samsung Medical Center, earning the "Outstanding Paper Award" as well.
Furthermore, So-hyun Cha, a master's student in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the Graduate School of Health Sciences (supervised by Professor Seung-jin Lee), is conducting research on "Comparing the Effects of High-Frequency Vocal Fold Vibration and Water Resistance Therapy on Voice Improvement in Adults with Voice Disorders." She was awarded the "Seunghwan Lee Scholarship" in recognition of the originality and clinical significance of her research.
So-bin Lee stated, "This award has further strengthened my academic passion and sense of responsibility for research in speech-language pathology. I will continue to pursue in-depth research aimed at practical clinical applications."
So-hyun Cha also shared her thoughts: "I am sincerely grateful to receive such a meaningful scholarship. Building on this opportunity, I will do my best to enhance my expertise in both research and clinical practice and contribute to the advancement of the field of speech-language pathology."
Meanwhile, the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Hallym University’s Graduate School and Graduate School of Health Sciences aims to cultivate experts who can academically research and clinically apply methods for diagnosing and rehabilitating all types of communication disorders experienced from infancy to old age, with a top-tier faculty specializing in various subfields.
