During the meeting, Mayor Park stated, "The Sincheon-Haan-Shillim Line is a key project not only for improving transportation convenience for citizens but also for securing future growth engines for Gwangmyeong," and added, "I ask for Gyeonggi Province's active cooperation so that the project can move forward quickly."

The Sincheon-Haan-Shillim Line is a 15.3-kilometer route that branches off from Sincheon Station on the Seohae Line in Sincheon-dong, Siheung City, passes through Haan-dong in Gwangmyeong City, and connects to Shillim Station in Gwanak-gu, Seoul. Once this railway network is established, accessibility to Seoul from the western Gyeonggi areas such as Siheung and Gwangmyeong is expected to improve significantly.

This project is currently included in Gyeonggi Province's Basic Railway Plan, and the city is working to have it reflected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan.

Mayor Park emphasized, "In Gwangmyeong, transit traffic heading to Seoul accounts for 70% of the total, and once the Gwangmyeong-Siheung New Town, the third new town, is completed, the population is expected to increase to about 500,000. The Sincheon-Haan-Shillim Line, which connects Seoul and southwestern Gyeonggi, will be a key solution for alleviating traffic congestion and achieving balanced development."

Mayor Park also requested that the province consider pursuing this project in parallel as a 'Southwestern Metropolitan Area Private Investment Project.' This approach would connect the Sincheon-Haan-Shillim Line as a branch to the main line of the Second Gyeongin Line and the New Guro Line.

In addition, Mayor Park called for Gyeonggi Province's attention and cooperation for the swift implementation of the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Line (Seoul-Gwangmyeong-Siheung), which is included in the third new town metropolitan transportation improvement measures, as well as for the establishment of transfer facilities at Guroil Station toward Gwangmyeong.

The city also plans to hold a forum with experts and citizens next month to gather public opinion and explore future strategies for expanding railway transportation infrastructure, including the Sincheon-Haan-Shillim Line.
