It operates as a selective direct payment system, where local producer organizations participate in low-carbon farming activities and receive activity-based financial support in return.
To enhance participating farmers' understanding and ensure smooth implementation, Gwangju City held a training session on September 30 at the Docheok Nonghyup Training Center, organized by the Korea Rural Community Corporation.
Mayor Bang Sehwan emphasized, "Participation and action in the field are the starting points for carbon neutrality in agriculture," and added, "We will achieve tangible reductions by combining education and support."
Alongside this program, Gwangju City is also promoting the '2025 Eco-Friendly Rice Complex Ecological Farming Project.' The city is providing eco-friendly materials to rice farmers and preparing income compensation measures for the expansion of new plots, thereby accelerating the creation of a carbon-neutral agricultural ecosystem in the region.
Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "The success of low-carbon agriculture depends on the voluntary participation of farmers," and added, "We will expand the program to encourage more farmers to join and establish a Gwangju-style low-carbon agriculture model that maximizes implementation results and reduction effects."
