On the 17th, Hwacheon County announced that it was chosen as a target for the "2026 Livestock Odor Improvement Project" organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing a total project budget of 1.9 billion won, including national and provincial funds.

The purpose of this project is to address the inconvenience caused to residents by odors from livestock facilities and to promote the proper treatment and resource utilization of livestock manure.

The county will select 20 livestock farms as project beneficiaries and support the installation of odor reduction facilities for these farms.

In addition, Hwacheon County plans to link this project with its existing livestock manure resource facilities.

In particular, the county aims to build a sustainable livestock environment by gradually distributing manure processing equipment, such as sealed composting facilities, covers for liquid fertilizer storage tanks, and bio-curtain installations.

Previously, in 2023, Hwacheon County was also selected for the same public project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and designated 13 livestock farms as exemplary farms for environmental improvement.

Furthermore, over the past three years, the county has independently implemented various projects, including support for liquid fertilizer and compost production facilities, support for livestock manure moisture control agents, support for the installation of high-speed fermenters, and support for odor improvement agents.

Choi Kihae, head of the Hwacheon County Pig Farmers Association, said, "We expect that being selected for this livestock odor improvement project will lead to the sustainable development of the livestock industry."

Choi Moonsun, the governor of Hwacheon County, stated, "We will continue to significantly reduce odors that inconvenience residents and establish an environmentally friendly system for livestock manure treatment."
