Jeon Hyunhee, Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, stated at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the morning of September 12, "Song, the floor leader, who made an unprecedentedly outrageous remark that effectively condoned treason and murder, must not only step down from the People Power Party leadership but also be permanently expelled from Korean politics."

Jeon further said, "Song must immediately apologize to the public and the Democratic Party," and added, "The People Power Party, which continues to walk the path of a party supporting treason, should remember that it is heading straight toward a constitutional dissolution review for being an unconstitutional party."

Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party, also commented, "After hearing the outrageous remarks from Song Eonseok, floor leader of the People Power Party, and Kim Jaewon, Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, I got the impression that they still cannot shake off their thoughts about treason, and their lack of will to sever ties with it keeps surfacing." He emphasized, "Our Democratic Party will never overlook or let Song's outrageous remarks fade away without consequences."

Kim Byungjoo, Supreme Council member, criticized, "Song Eonseok must stop his cursed rituals," and added, "The person who is supposed to be the floor leader of the main opposition party has cursed the President of the Republic of Korea and the ruling party leader, wishing for their deaths. How could a human being do such a thing?" He continued, "Politics must be conducted by people. Anyone who wishes for another's death is unfit for politics and should be isolated from society," and declared, "If Song, the shaman of death, refuses to acknowledge his wrongdoing and persists in silence, he must be expelled by the authority of the National Assembly, which represents the people." Addressing the People Power Party, he added, "Jang Donghyeok, as leader, must apologize for Song Eonseok's death wish, have him step down as floor leader, and immediately expel him from the party."

Park Suhyeon, chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party, told reporters after the Supreme Council meeting, "Given that National Assembly Speaker Woo Wonsik has also sent a strong message, this is not an issue that can be simply overlooked," and added, "The Democratic Party will never let this slide. We will file a complaint with the Ethics Committee today."

Previously, during the National Assembly negotiation group speech by Representative Jeong on September 9, when the phrase "If Nosangwon's notebook had succeeded in reality, Lee Jaemyung and Jeong Cheongrae would no longer be alive" was mentioned, Song commented, "It would have been better if that had happened," sparking controversy. Kim Jaewon, Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, also defended Song by saying, "It is very wrong for the Democratic Party to demand Song's resignation from the National Assembly," which further intensified the controversy.
