Optrontec announced on September 9 that it has secured a new growth engine for its optical filter business through the world’s first development of a next-generation high-performance OGF (Organic Green Filter). With this technological breakthrough, the company expects not only to accelerate its expansion into the automotive electronics sector, including autonomous vehicles, in addition to the high-pixel smartphone camera market, but also to drive diversification of its business portfolio and improve profitability at the same time.

The OGF, developed with Optrontec’s proprietary technology, is supplied for use in 200-megapixel smartphone cameras, thereby expanding the company’s optical filter business. Its key strength lies in achieving both cost competitiveness and high performance compared to the existing high-performance OBG (Organic Blue Glass) filter.

The OGF is an exclusive product that incorporates differentiated technology from design to manufacturing processes. It is optimized for ultra-high-pixel cameras, where high-definition imaging is essential. Starting next year, the supply of 200-megapixel cameras is expected to expand in earnest, leading to significant growth in related sales.

Optrontec has also officially entered the automotive optical filter market. The company is currently mass-producing and supplying standard reflective filters to North American finished vehicle manufacturers. In the first half of next year, it plans to jointly develop and supply high-performance filters for autonomous vehicles based on the newly developed next-generation OGF technology.

Jung Dae-hyun, Chief Business Officer of Optrontec, stated, "The OGF is the result of three years of concentrated technological and manufacturing capabilities, in line with Optrontec’s strategy of selection and focus for a renewed leap in its optical filter business," adding, "OGF is not simply a product, but a core asset symbolizing Optrontec’s technological prowess and future growth potential."
