On September 5, the KOSPI closed at 3,205.12, up 4.29 points (0.13%) from the previous day. Trading volume was provisionally tallied at 302.37 million shares, with a trading value of 9.3347 trillion won.
By investor type, institutions were net buyers of 132.4 billion won, while foreigners and individuals were net sellers of 155.7 billion won and 57 billion won, respectively. In the futures market, institutions and individuals were net sellers of 306.8 billion won and 15.8 billion won, respectively, while foreigners were net buyers of 319.1 billion won. Program trading recorded net selling of 7.4 billion won in arbitrage trades and 123.2 billion won in non-arbitrage trades.
Performance varied by sector. The general services sector rose by 1.69%, while entertainment and culture gained 1.45%, transportation and storage increased by 1.08%, construction was up 1.03%, textiles and apparel climbed 0.94%, insurance advanced 0.91%, finance rose 0.71%, real estate gained 0.63%, pharmaceuticals increased 0.53%, IT services rose 0.33%, and telecommunications advanced 0.32%. On the other hand, the electricity and gas sector declined by 1.58%, metals fell 0.92%, transportation equipment dropped 0.83%, and machinery and equipment decreased 0.45%.
Among large-cap stocks, performances were mixed. Samsung Electronics fell 0.86%, LG Energy Solution dropped 2.28%, Hanwha Aerospace declined 1.18%, Hyundai Motor was down 0.68%, Kia slipped 0.37%, Doosan Enerbility lost 1.59%, and Celltrion was down 0.71%. Conversely, SK Hynix rose 3.01%, Samsung Biologics gained 1.28%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries increased 0.59%, and KB Financial Group edged up 0.09%.
On the day, 451 stocks advanced, 404 declined, and 77 remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ index also closed higher. The KOSDAQ finished at 811.4, up 5.98 points (0.74%) from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners were net buyers of 20.1 billion won and 23.1 billion won, respectively, while individuals were net sellers of 45.4 billion won.
Among large-cap KOSDAQ stocks, performances were mixed. Alteogen rose 1.71%, PharmaResearch gained 1.29%, ABL Bio surged 7.85%, LegoChem Biosciences increased 1.94%, HLB advanced 2.79%, Lino Corporation climbed 0.98%, and Kolon TissueGene jumped 6.67%. In contrast, Ecopro BM fell 1.1%, Ecopro declined 0.6%, Rainbow Robotics dropped 1.07%, and Hugel slipped 0.6%.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate was trading at 1,390.9 won, down 4.4 won from the previous day.
