The Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency announced that it held a disbandment ceremony for the university (graduate) student participation group in the National Pilot City Construction Project on July 25.

The Sejong National Pilot City is a future-oriented smart city that will be developed in Hapgang-dong (5-1 Living Zone) of the Happy City. The agency plans to create a city that addresses urban issues and improves quality of life by integrating advanced technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.

The participation group consisted of 19 students majoring in smart city and urban planning-related fields. Over the past five months, they engaged in various activities. They planned services and proposed operational plans and usage scenarios in four areas: lifestyle innovation, parking, public transportation, and personal mobility (PM) operations.

In the field of lifestyle innovation, they proposed barrier-free lifestyle services for digitally vulnerable groups. In the parking sector, they suggested a smart parking management system based on robotic parking. For public transportation, they proposed Mobility as a Service (MaaS) reflecting real-time traffic information. In the PM operation sector, they suggested services incorporating LiDAR and geofencing technologies.

Kang Juyeop, head of the agency, stated, "Young people who will be the main actors in future smart cities participated directly and proposed practical ideas," and added, "We will continue to strive to realize a participatory city involving the public, private, and academic sectors."
