View original imageThe National Assembly Forum on Energy Basic Income, held under the slogan "Energy Basic Income Begins in Jeonnam," took place at the National Assembly Library Grand Auditorium on the 5th.
This forum, hosted by Jeollanam-do, was organized to present strategies and business models for the activation of energy basic income.
Many attended the event, including Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Lee Sungchul, CEO of Hankook Ilbo, Park Jiwon, Member of the National Assembly, Lee Gaeho, Member of the National Assembly, Yong Hyein, Member of the National Assembly, as well as other lawmakers and experts and stakeholders from the energy and basic social sectors.
Jang Saeil, Mayor of Yeonggwang, stated in his congratulatory remarks, "Basic income, in this era of great transformation in Korea, will become an active social safety net that enhances the sustainability of our society and guarantees the basic lives of citizens in a society where we live together. Yeonggwang, blessed with abundant solar and wind resources, is currently establishing a Yeonggwang-type basic income model based on its renewable industry development potential. We will do our utmost to accelerate the era of Jeonnam-type energy basic income and serve as a catalyst for realizing a basic society in Korea."
Meanwhile, Yeonggwang County established a dedicated basic income task force (TF) in January this year to implement the "Yeonggwang-type Basic Income Implementation System," which is Mayor Jang Saeil's top pledge project. In addition, the county is pushing forward with a legislative notice to enact the "Basic Income Basic Ordinance," the first of its kind among basic local governments.
