Yun Dong-ju: Stars and Songs - 80 Years of Resonance
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will hold a memorial event for the 80th anniversary of the death of poet Yun Dong-ju at the district-run “Crossing the Stream to the Forest Library,” a library commemorating the 100th anniversary of Yun Dong-ju’s birth.

View original imageThe memorial event will take place on the 15th of this month at 4 PM under the theme “Yun Dong-ju: Stars and Songs ? 80 Years of Resonance.” This event is organized to remember Yun Dong-ju, who unjustly ended his life under Japanese colonial rule alongside forced labor victims during the Japanese occupation, and to honor his literary achievements and spirit.
The first part, titled “Japan, Yun Dong-ju’s Final Days,” will be hosted by Professor Choi Hyun-sik from Inha University’s Department of Korean Literature, with a lecture delivered by Professor Yoo Sung-ho from Hanyang University’s Department of Korean Literature. Through this lecture, the historical significance of Yun Dong-ju’s final period and his literary work will be revisited.

The second part features a classical music performance with a collaboration between the string quartet group “Quattro Ewha” and tenor Jung Je-yoon. The program includes solemn and calm pieces such as Mozart’s Requiem (Requiem K.626 Lacrymosa) and Puccini’s Crisantemi.
