The police have strengthened security around the Constitutional Court, where the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol is taking place.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 21st, 64 units and 4,000 personnel have been deployed around the Constitutional Court, and barricades have been installed.
President Yoon is scheduled to attend the impeachment trial in person on this day. This is the first time that an impeached president has appeared directly in the courtroom. It is reported that President Yoon is strongly determined to personally explain the reasons for declaring martial law, including allegations of election fraud and the impeachment led by the Democratic Party.
Earlier, on the 19th, when an arrest warrant was issued for President Yoon, his supporters stormed the Seoul Western District Court, assaulting police officers and damaging property, causing a disturbance.
