After School member UIE will be teaming up with Korean actor Cha Tae-hyun for an upcoming KBS drama.

Her agency Pledis Entertainment said in a press release Friday that UIE has confirmed the lead female role in the new historical drama tentatively titled “Jeon Woochi.""My biggest goal with this role is to shatter the stereotyes about idol-turned-actors. That is why I plan on putting in more effort and work into this new series," UIE revealed in the statement about starring in series.

KBS TV series “Jeon Woochi” is originated from the old Korean tale about a heroic figure named Jeon Woochi. Starring two aforementioned actors as well as Lee Hee-joon and Sung Dong-il, respectively, the period-set series will make its premiere in November.

Making her debut as a member of K-pop female band After School, UIE expanded her career into acting after starring in MBC’s historical drama “Queen Seok-deok” in 2009. She has since appeared in many dramas such as "He's Beautiful" (SBS, 2009), "Birdie Buddy" (tvN, 2011) and "Ojakgyo Brothers" (KBS, 2011-2012).
