Songstress IU and BEAST's Lee Gi-kwang have been spotted in a recording studio, where they were recording their voices for the second installment of the Hollywood animation "Sammy's Adventures."

The pic's local promoter, CJ E&M, unveiled the pictures through a press release Thursday, which show the two idol stars standing in front of a mic to dub the voices of Ella and Ricky in "Sammy's Adventures 2," set to open in local theaters on August 2. "I feel that this animation will allow the younger audience to become familar with the underwater world," said IU, who is lending her voice to the baby sea turtle.

"I'm confident that the whole family can enjoy this animation this summer," IU's voice-dubbing partner Lee added.

Helmed by director Ben Stassen, the sequel of "Sammy's Adventures" will tell the story of Ella and Ricky going on their journey to save Sammy and Ray, who are held captive in an aquarium in Dubai. The imported version of "Sammy's Adventures: The Secret Passage," the first of the animated series opened in December 2010, features Big Bang's Daesung and f(x)'s Sulli each dubbing Shelly and Sammy.

IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, is currently preparing to release her new Japanese single "You&I" on July 18 and hold her second Japanese concert in September.

Lee, meanwhile, is prepping up to return to the local music scene with other BEAST members by rolling out the fifth mini-album "Midnight Sun" on July 22.
