NYMag excited about new Hong Sang-soo pic at Cannes

Korean film "The Day He Arrives" has been chosen one of the 12 films to get excited about at this year's Cannes Film Festival by New York magazine.

According to the official website of New York Magazine, "The Day He Arrives," helmed by Korean director Hong Sang-soo, was selected as a movie to get excited by at the prestigious film fest alongside other features including "Restless," "The Skin I Live In," "We Need to Talk About Kevin," "Drive," "This Is Not A Film," "Sleeping Beauty," "Melacholia," "The Tree of Life," "This Must Be the Place," "Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai" and "Oslo, 31. August." "The Day He Arrives," which stars Yu Jun-sang, Song Sun-mi and Kim Sang-joong, tells the story of a young film professor that reunites with his mentor in a small village for a three-day stint.

Hong's film will be screened under the noncompetitive Un Certain Regard category along with director Kim Ki-duk's pic "Arirang" and auteur Na Hong-jin's "The Murderer (The Yellow Sea)" during the 64th annual Festival de Cannes which kicked off in Cannes, France this week.

Hong had previously won an award under the same category last year with his film "Ha Ha Ha," starring Yoo Jun-sang and Ye Ji-won. The pic talked about an aspiring filmmaker and a film critic who meet in the seaside city of Tong-young and share their life stories and experiences. Known as one of the world's oldest and prestigious film festivals, Festival de Cannes was founded in 1946 in the resort town of Cannes in the south of France.
