SBS’ medical suspense drama “Sign” led the primetime TV chart for Wednesdays and Thursdays for the 6th week, according to the findings by the two major media research companies on Friday.

“Sign” posted an average viewership rating of 19.4 percent on Total National Multimedia Research’s (TNmS) chart and 23.5 percent on AGB Nielsen Media research’s (AGB) poll, which is nearly a two to five percent surge from last week and the highest marks for the drama to score. This week’s episode aired lawmaker’s daughter Kang Seo-hyun getting away with her murders once again, thanks to forged evidence made by the chief of National Forensic Service Lee Myung-han (Jeon Kwang-ryeol) who in return, demanded her father for more rights for his organization.

Meanwhile, two new series began airing this week -- “The Thorn Birds” on KBS and “Royal Family” on MBC.

According to the data by TNmS, melodrama “The Thorn Birds,” which posted an average viewership rating of 6.45 percent, came in second on the primetime slot for this week followed by “Royal Family” that yielded an average viewership rating of 5.7 percent. AGB’s report in contrast, had “Royal Family” on second place with an average viewership rating of 7.15 percent while revealing an average viewership rating of 6.4 percent for “The Thorn Birds.”

KBS’ series “The Thorn Birds,” starring Han Hye-jin, Kim Min-jung and Joo Sang-uk, began with the past and the present of the three main leads; an orphanage girl Jung-eun (Kim So-hyun), adoptee Yoo-kyung (Yoon Jung-eun) and concubine’s son Lee Young-jo (Lee Min-ho).

MBC’ “Royal Family,” starring Yum Jung-ah, Kim Young-ae and Ji Sung, is about the power struggle within a conglomerate family.

It kicked off with the untimely death of the second son of conglomerate JK Group who leaves his wife Kim In-sook (Yum) at the mercy of her mother-in-law who tries to use the incident to get rid of her from the family.
