TVXQ tops mobile music charts in Japan with new songs

Korean duo TVXQ has risen to top of mobile music charts in Japan, according to their agency SM Entertainment on Monday.

The Japanese version of their title track “Why (Keep Your Head Down)” and song “MAXIMUM,” which were released in the form of a ringtone on January 12, placed atop Japan’s Mu-Mo and Recochuku’s mobile music charts last week, while the album is set to go on sale on January 26.The group's song “Why (Keep Your Head Down)” is also the title track to Japan's Fuji TV's new drama "Beautiful Neighbors" which began its run on January 11.

Meanwhile, TVXQ scored their first win on KBS' televised music show "Music Bank" over the weekend, in just a week of making their comeback on January 5.

TVXQ, formerly composed of five members Hero Jaejoong, Mickey Yuchun, Max Changmin and U-Know Yunho, enjoyed high popularity throughout Asia as one the leading dance groups in K-pop scene since their debut in 2004. However, after disputing with agency SM Entertainment over the unfairness of their 13-year exclusive contract, Jaejoong, Yuchun and Junsu halted their activities as TVXQ and instead formed trio JYJ.

TVXQ is now a duo group led by two remaining members Changmin and Yunho have been busy promoting "Why (Keep Your Head Down)" which has topped a number of online and offline music charts since release in early January.
