Girls' Generation to release new album next week

Korean pop group Girls' Generation is making a comeback to the K-pop music scene with a new album next week, according to their agency on Thursday.

The girl band will be releasing "Oh!", their second full-length album, on January 28, SM Entertainment announced in a press release. SM also said they will give the first performance for their new single on MBC music show "Music Central" two days later. Title track "Oh!", an electronic pop tune, was penned by contemporary songwriter Kenzie who has written songs for many SM artists such as BoA, SHINee and TVXQ.

Girls' Generation is one of South Korea's most popular pop groups whose debut mini-album "Gee" produced two hit singles -- "Gee" and "Tell Me Your Wish" -- and topped various music charts in Asia last year. They also won several awards at the 2009 Melon Music Awards and the 24th Golden Disk Awards.

The nine-member girl band is scheduled to give an encore concert at Seoul's Olympic Park Fencing Stadium on February 27 and 28. Tickets for the concert will go on sale starting tonight, 8 p.m., at G-market website (http://www.gmarket.co.kr).
