Korea's Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) last week.

A press release from PiFan on Friday announced that PiFan and HKIFF signed the agreement on June 24, establishing a partnership through which both parties will collaborate and build a network among genre filmmakers and their respective industries.
The agreement will focus on supporting each other's project markets in various ways including in financial and educational aspects.

In particular, HKIFF's Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) project market will name one film to be presented as one of the official selections for the It Project at PiFan's Network of Asian Fantastic Films project market next year.

"This partnership will solidify the role of PiFan and HKIFF as the source for the Asian film project market and we hope it will work toward creating a platform for the Asian film market in the movie industry," PiFan director Kim Young-bin was quoted as saying.
This year's PiFan will kick off its ceremony on July 14 with Indian director Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra's movie "Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told" and end ten days later with closing film "Blind."

NAFF which will run concurrently with PiFan from July 17 to 20, while HKIFF Program managers Roger Garcia and Bede Cheng will attend the opening reception for NAFF to celebrate the partnership.
