T-ara's Qri on MBC historical series "Queen Seondeok" (2009) [MBC]
Girl group T-ara member Qri will join the cast of an ongoing KBS historical TV series, announced her agency Core Contents Media on Wednesday.
According to a press release by Core Contents today, Qri will appear in the drama titled “The King of Legend” alongside another T-ara member Eunjung who just yesterday was announced to have been cast in the same show.
“The King of Legend,” whose story is based on a historical novel by writer Lee Moon-yeol, is set in Korea in the 4th century and depicts the life of King Geun Chogo known as the 13th ruler of ancient Baekje Kingdom that controlled the middle part of the Korean Peninsula from 18 B.C. to A.D. 660.
The 60-part series starring veteran actors Kam Woo-sung, Lee Jong-won, Kim Ji-su, Lee Ji-hoon and An Jae-mo has been airing every weekend evening since last November.
Qri will appear as Princess Yeojin, the daughter of King Geun Chogo whose stubbornness and tomboyish streak troubles her much older husband Sa-gi, but later transforms into his faithful wife after he returns from exile.
This will be Qri’s second time appearing in a historical drama following MBC drama “Queen Seondeok” (2009) where she appeared as Young-mo, the granddaughter of Lady Mishill who married General Kim Yoo-shin.
Qri, whose real name is Lee Ji-hyun debuted in July 2009 as one of the members to idol group T-ara composed of other members Hyomin, Jiyeon, Boram and Soyeon Hyo-young.
The group kicked off their career with single “Lie” and “Wanna Play” and continuously produced other hit songs such as "Bo Peep Bo Peep" and "I Go Crazy Because of You."
