Korean idol groups TVXQ and Big Bang both won music awards at the 24th Golden Disk Awards in Japan, according to media reports.
TVXQ won "Best Music Video" by a foreign artist for their DVD "All About TVXQ Season 3" while Big Bang was named "Best 5 New Artists" at the ceremony, held February 24 in Tokyo.
The biggest winner at this year's ceremony was Japanese band Arashi who won a total of 10 awards including Single of the Year, Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Big Bang, discovered and trained by major talent agency YG Entertainment, is composed of G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung and Seungri.
TVXQ -- made up of U-Know Yunho, Xiah Junsu, Hero Jaejoong, Max Changmin and Micky Yoochun -- has become one of the most successful K-pop acts in Asia since debuting in 2004 with album "Hug".
Created and managed by SM Entertainment, they reportedly have the largest fanbase in the world and have enjoyed great success in the Japanese music industry in particular.
Last year, they became the first foreign artist to top the Oricon singles charts six times with their 27th single "Share the World/We are!"
