Korean actress Lee Da-hae has expanded her acting career overseas, being cast as the female lead in an upcoming Chinese TV series.
On Friday, her agency Forestar Entertainment said in a press release that Lee will play the role of So-ha who becomes a successful cook at a dimsum restaurant in "The Secret to Love" (translated title). Forestar added that the drama is set to begin its shoot in Shanghai on March 5.
"We feel that Lee will not have any trouble with her lines because she is fluent in three languages including Chinese," an official with Forestar said in the statement, noting that the actress has received a number of other offers in the country.
Lee made her debut in 2001 and starred in various dramas such as "Lotus Flower Fairy" and rose to stardom in Korea and gained popularity throughout Asia with "My Girl."
She also played lead female roles alongside Korean actors Jang Hyuk and Oh Ji-ho in the hit KBS historical drama "The Slave Hunters" and MBC TV series "Miss Ripley" with Kim Seung-woo, Park Yuchun and Kang Hye-jung.
