Actor Kim Jae-won has been cast in an upcoming TV series starring actress E Ji-ah, according to the show's broadcaster MBC on Tuesday.
MBC said through a press release on Wednesday that Kim, 30, will star in Wednesday and Thursday mini-series "Flower, Me Too!" (translated title) set to go on air in early November.
A romantic comedy originally named "The Return of the Queen," the upcoming drama will be written by Kim Do-woo of smash hit series "My Name is Kim Sam-soon" (MBC, 2005) and directed by Ko Dong-sun of "Queen of Housewives" (MBC, 2009).
Kim will play the sound and sincere Seo Jae-hee, living the double life of both the owner of a designer label shop and parking attendant, who falls in love with the ill-tempered policewoman Cha Bong-sun to be played by E.
"I'd wanted to work with Kim since a long time ago. And he showed much more matured acting through 'Listen To My Heart' so I become certain he'd be able to show two different images for the role of Seo Jae-hee," producer Ko said of his reason for casting Kim.
"Listen To My Heart," a 30-part drama co-starring Hwang Jung-eum which aired for three months starting early April of this year, was Kim's first small screen role in over four years.
His last acting role was in TV series "Hwang Jini" after which he entered the military in 2009 to fulfill the two-year duty required of all Korean men.
Kim made his debut in 2001 in the SBS sitcom "Honey Honey" and rose to fame through MBC's romantic drama "Romance" alongside actress Kim Ha-neul.
He has since starred in other TV series “Rival” (SBS, 2002), “My Darling Patzzi” (MBC, 2002) and “Wonderful Life” (MBC, 2005) and also in comic romance film “100 Days With Mr. Arrogant” (2004) with actress Ha Ji-won.
