Park Min-young [King Kong Entertainment]
Actress Park Min-young has been cast in a new TV series set to go on air in October, according to her agency King Kong Entertainment on Wednesday.
A PR official with King Kong told 10Asia over the phone that Park has decided to star in an upcoming KBS drama tentatively titled "The Glory of Jae-in" where she will play the main character named Jae-in.
The show has yet to announce the casting for its main male character but will be helmed by producer Lee Jung-sup and scenarist Kang Eun-kyung, the duo of smash hit series "Bread, Love and Dreams" (KBS, 2010) which saw viewership ratings of over 50 percent during its run.
"She'll probably start shooting the show in early September, after wrapping up filming of her current series 'City Hunter' this week, then going overseas for a week for a photo shoot and lastly, doing some interviews," the official explained.
Park currently appears in SBS' action drama "City Hunter" opposite actor Lee Min-ho and the 20-part series will end this week.
Park made her debut through a commercial in 2005 and has also appeared in popular sitcom “High Kick (2006)” and several dramas including “Princess Ja Myung Go" (SBS, 2009).
The actress saw her popularity soar after starring in "SungKyunKwan Scandal" (KBS, 2010), also starring JYJ member Yuchun and actors Song Joong-ki and Yoo A-in, in which she played a girl disguised as a boy.
Earlier this year, she starred in her first feature film named "The Cat" which was pre-sold to Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei at this year's Cannes film market.
