Bae Soo-bin [BH Entertainment]
Actor Bae Soo-bin has been cast in a Japanese movie to be helmed by director Banmei Takahashi, considered the master of art films.
Bae's agency BH Entertainment announced through a press release on Tuesday that the actor will appear in the movie tentatively titled "The Man of White Porcelain" which is set for release in Japan next spring after cranking in today.
The movie will be based on a true story about a Takumi Asakawa, a Japanese man who entered Korea during the country's occupation by Japan and became captivated by Korean culture, particularly the traditional white Korean porcelain.
Japanese actor Yu Yoshizawa will play the role of Asakawa and Bae his Korean friend Chungrim who informs him of the culture and spirit of Korea's Joseon's Dynasty.
Bae made his debut in 2002 through China's CCTV's "The Proof of Memories" and has since appeared in other dramas such as "The Painter of the Wind," which won him the new star award at the 2008 SBS Drama Awards.
Most recently, he was one of the main characters to SBS TV series "49 Days" starring Jung Il-woo, Lee Yo-won and Nam Gyu-ri.
