SHINee Jonghyun, Sin Se-gyeong no longer dating

Boy band SHINee member Jonghyun and actress Sin Se-gyeong have broken up, according to Sin's agency Namoo Actors on Monday.

An official with Namoo told the news to 10Asia over the phone after checking with the actress who had started dating the K-pop idol star around October of last year.

"The two recently grew far from each other due to their busy schedules so they decided to stay friends," the official explained, adding that the two rarely got to meet each other.

Sin recently finished filming movie "Blue Salt" which cranked in last summer, is currently shooting a film named "Take Off: Closer to the Sun" (translated title) starring top Korean singer and actor Rain and thereafter will start shooting upcoming SBS TV series "A Tree with Deep Roots" (translated title).

Jonghyun has been busy promoting himself and his boy band throughout the Asia region and is making their official debut in the Japanese music market this month.

News of the breakup between the lead singer of one of Asia's most popular K-pop groups and one of the most sought-after actresses in Korea of 2009 smash-hit sitcom "High Kick 2" fame has drawn mixed response.

While some are disappointed that the two young celebrities are no longer an item, the opposite reaction has been noticed in fervid fans of Jonghyun, some who went as far as to push the actress to shutting down her personal website.
