MBC’s historical drama “The Duo” finished its run yesterday while placing atop the TV chart for Monday and Tuesday primetime series for third consecutive week, according to the findings by two media research companies on Wednesday.
“The Duo,” starring Chun Jung-myung, Lee Sang-yun, Han Ji-hye and Seo Hyun-jin, posted average marks of 12.6 percent on Total National Multimedia Statistics' (TNmS) chart and 15.5 percent on AGB Nielsen Media Research’s (AGB) poll, coming in first among other primetime competitors for a final time.
Throughout the episode, the two grow up to become the best of friends while out to fight widespread corruption in society in their own ways; Gwi-dong as a government official and Chun-dung the head of the righteous thieves that steal from rich to give to the poor.
When the secrets to their birth are out, Gwi-dong tries to help Chun-dung escape from soldiers by making him go into disguise with his clothes. The two reconcile in the process but Chun-dung, nonetheless, gets shot by Gwi-dong’s rival who mistakes him for another. Chung-dung’s birth father, the nobleman Kim, gets devastated. Two years later however, Chun-dung’s wife returns with his newborn grandchild.
Trailing behind the two was SBS’ “Lie To Me” led by Yoon Eun-hye and Kang Ji-hwan, a comical story of lie and marriage scandal, which posted average viewership ratings of 8.2 percent and 9.5 percent on TNmS’ and AGB’s charts, respectively.
