TV series "The Duo" [MBC]
MBC’s historical series “The Duo” has come out first on the primetime chart for four straight weeks now but is showing a drop in figures following the close pursuit by its runner-up SBS’ “Midas,” according to the results displayed by two media research companies on Wednesday.
“The Duo,” starring Chun Jung-myung, Lee Sang-yun and Han Ji-hye, beat its primetime competitors once again after scoring an average viewership rating of 12.8 percent on Total National Multimedia Statistics’ (TNmS) chart and 15 percent on AGB Nielsen Media Research’s (AGB) poll, though the actual numbers decreased by 1.3 to 1.5 percent from last week.
This week, nobleman Kim Jae-ik too learns the secret of the birth between Gwi-dong (played by Lee) and Chun-jung (Chun) after spotting a hereditary red spot on Gwi-dong’s neck and forces an explanation from Mak-soon (Yoon Yoo-sun) who used to be the nanny. In the meantime, Dong-nyeo (Han) reveals that she is one of the members of the Yaraejeok gang, the 'righteous thieves' seeking revenge for the death of her father.
SBS series “Midas” starring Jang Hyuk, Kim Hee-ae and Kim Min-jung, in contrast, showed about a two percent gain from the past week, marking an average viewership rating of 12.25 percent on TNmS chart and 14.6 percent on AGB’s survey.
Do-hyun (Jang), released from the prison after serving his term, plots for revenge against the Yoo conglomerate family who took advantage of him. He first succeeds in taking over the construction company owned by Yoo Ki-joon (Choi Jung-woo) by tricking him into taking up a risky M&A.
During an investigation into the kidnapping of company trainee Park Eun-a whose case was linked with the embezzlement within the company, Min-ju (Song Ji-hyo) also gets kidnapped by a mysterious man. When Se-hyuk (Song Il-gook) rescues her, she confesses her feelings for him.
