Korean star Kim Suna and Kim Ju-hyeok have been cast as the leads in an upcoming movie, according to the film's promoters Lemon Tree on Wednesday.
Lemon Tree announced in a press release that Kim Suna will play the female lead, Oh Yoo-ran, the wife of second string pitcher named Yoon Doo-hoon in the movie tentatively titled "Fighting Spirit."
"Fighting Spirit," helmed by famed director Kim Sang-jin whose works include "King and the Clown" and "Lost in Love," tells the story of Oh Yoo-ran who supports her husband who only has baseball on his mind and raises their two children.
"Kim Ju-hyeok is an actor that starts off on a clean slate and is able to immerse himself into his character," director Kim was quoted as saying. "And Kim Suna is an actress who will be able to spread her happiness through the role of Oh Yoo-ran."
Kim Suna, who grew up in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese, shot to stardom throughout Asia with her comedic role in hit MBC TV series "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon"(2005). She returned to the small screen three years later with "When It's At Night" and "City Hall."
"Fighting Spirit," scheduled to open in theaters late next year, will crank in mid-February.
